METRO: Kumu Races for Water

How about you run and we convert those kilometers into liters of clean water for the water-deprived community of Aetas in Porac, Pampanga? We help you get fit, we help them get water!

That’s the whole mission of the Race for Water campaign launched on World Water Day last March 22 by int’l non-profit organization Waves for Water, in partnership with top live streaming app, Kumu! Kumu personalities took part in this special stream event including actor/singer Marlo Mortel, Eat Bulaga’s Manly Ocampo, and comedian Rufami8 who all treated the viewers with remarkable performances. Likewise, the advocacy stream was anchored by professional artists and hosts Diana Dayao., Christian Bahaya, and Khai Lim.

Meanwhile, Waves for Water Philippines’ country director, Jenica Dizon provided the juiciest details on water conservation, filter demonstration, and how 5 million Filipinos still don’t have access to safe water. The whole campaign aims to raise awareness on water access inequality in the country and globally.

The kumu stream collected 1.16M diamonds from the generous pool of viewers, which converts to more than Php20,000.00! This, on top of registration fees they collect from participants, will help fund the whole project, which likewise intends to build a gravity-fed water system in Porac as a long-term solution. Race for Water campaign urges everybody to walk, run, or bike, and help people along the way via this virtual race which runs from March 1, 2021 to April 15, 2021.
